Story behind Photos — Calico 01, 02
Cliff Island in Casco Bay, Maine is a place very dear to my heart where I spend a lot of time near the ocean’s edge breathing in the fresh salt air and being in awe of the beautiful vistas. One summer word spread across the island that one of the local lobstermen had caught a very rare Calico lobster. These lobsters have a mottled orange and black shell. Lobsters such as this calico are a 1 in 30 million catch. The lobsterman was holding onto it for a short time for others to view it before releasing it back into the ocean. I grabbed by camera and hiked to the dock next to the bait shack where his brother helped me get these photos. Stranger still this brother told me that he too had caught this same lobster awhile back and released it.
